How do I learn how to use the Agee WristJack?

We have an excellent tutorial DVD which not only shows the proper application of the WristJack, but also discusses the principles of treatment when using any external fixator. The DVD is free to both physicians and hospitals; call toll free 888-974-7852 to request a copy. We also provide a detailed surgeon's manual with the DVD and inside every WristJack sold.

Occasionally during the year we participate in regional workshops. Check back to this site for a schedule or call 888-974-7852 to find out if there is an upcoming workshop near you.

Is the WristJack single use only?

Yes. However, we have a remanufacture program for the WristJack. Call 888-974-7852 for more information.

How does the WristJack restore palmar tilt without using wrist flexion?

Longitudinal traction alone is usually not able to restore volar tilt to the distal radius unless combined with advanced degrees of wrist flexion. When extreme wrist flexion is used to maintain palmar tilt, it predisposes your patient to carpal tunnel syndrome and finger stiffness.

The WristJack avoids wrist flexion and instead uses palmar translation of the hand. Restoration of length to the radius tightens the dorsal soft tissue hinge. The hand is then palmarly translated on the forearm. This palmar translation transmits a rotatory force from the hand through the carpus to the distal fragment(s) of the radius and tilts the articular surface back towards normal. This is clearly illustrated on our DVD. Please call 888-974-7852 to request a copy of our DVD.

What billing codes are used with the WristJack?

CPT 25606 may be used when the WristJack is used as the only method of fracture fixation. "Percutaneous skeletal fixation of distal radial fracture or epiphyseal separation"

CPT 25607--"Open treatment of distal radial extra-articular fracture or epiphyseal separation, with internal fixation"

CPT 25608--"Open treatment of distal radial intra-articular fracture; with internal fixation of 2 fragments"

CPT 25609--"Open treatment of distal radial intra-articular fracture; with internal fixation of 3 or more fragments"

CPT 20690--"Application of a uniplane, unilateral external fixator system." If a percutaneous or open fixtion of the fracture fragments is performed in addition to the application of the WristJack, use the appropriate code from the previous four and use this code. This code is Modifier 51 exempt.

CPT 20900--"Bone graft, any donor area; minor or small"

The HCPC code most commonly used for the WristJack is L3982--Upper extremity fracture orthosis, pre-fabricated, allows for fitting and adjustment.

NOTE: Each surgery is different. These are general guidelines; please be sure to bill correctly for each individual.

If I have a question about my bill, who do I contact?

You should call our accounts receivable department at 916-923-5075, Monday through Friday, between 8 AM to 5 PM. Our terms are net 30 days.

How much does it weigh?

The WristJack weighs only 8 ounces, including the pins.

Is it single use only?

Yes. The Agee WristJack was designed and has marketing approval for single use only. It is shipped pre-sterilized for maximum convenience and efficiency. The device is made of Ultem® which is a high performance plastic that is x-ray translucent. Although this material is very strong, the wear susceptible areas are hidden inside the Agee WristJack and are impossible to evaluate with a superficial visual inspection.

Does the WristJack have related products?

We have a Pre-drill System available for use with the Agee WristJack. Our Office Removal Kit for the WristJack is now available at no charge simply by calling 888-WRISTJACK.

Is the Agee WristJack x-ray translucent?

Yes, please note x-ray views on bottom of page. Note on these x-rays that the wrist and fracture site are NOT overly-distracted and yet fracture reduction is maintained. Always x-ray your patient within the first week post-op to check on distraction at the wrist and fracture site. If there are abnormally large gaps between the radiocarpal joint, in the midcarpal joints or at the fracture site, reduce the amount of distraction. This is easily done in your office using the "L" shaped hex wrench attached to the WristJack.

Is it MRI compatible?

Yes. The "L" shaped hex wrench must first be removed from the Agee WristJack.
