This patient is a 35 year old man who injured his right ring finger during a martial arts training session. Nine months later he was referred for treatment of his persistant finger deformity which was painful and limited hand function. He had previous attempts at serial plaster casting and dynamic splints which failed to improve the finger ROM.

A Digit Widget was used to treat the deformity. The patient had a 70° flexion contracture of the PIP joint with active flexion to 100°. DIP motion was 0-35°.

The device was removed after 4 weeks at which time the PIP flexion contracture was reduced to 8° and the patient still had active flexion to 100°.
