Hand Biomechanics Lab is actually two entities, an orthopaedic medical practice specializing in the upper extremity, and a medical device manufacturing company. These entities come together to form what we believe is the best way to develop innovative products for patient care. Merging the disciplines of medicine, engineering and business together in one organization helps to make us stay patient focused in everything we do.

While at the University of California at Davis Medical Center, Dr. John Agee had an idea for a better way to appreciate and solve difficult patient problems. His vision prompted him to start his own medical practice in 1979. Shortly thereafter, he hired a journeyman machinist with the practical skills to help bring his ideas into solid form. Since that humble beginning, the organization has grown to include bio-mechanical, product design and manufacturing engineers as well as the support people critical to bringing products to market.

What hasn’t changed is Dr. Agee’s vision to build an organization that appreciates first hand the difficult issues of improving patient care, then works to bring real solutions to market. People on our team from medical, engineering and business backgrounds become partners in the development of new technology. They share in the excitement of our advances as well as the responsibility to each patient involved with our investigational and commercial devices.
